How Can I Get Medical Care

If I Don’t Have Health Insurance?

If you have been injured by the negligence of someone else, but do not have health insurance, it may feel like an impossible struggle. Sometimes the person who hurt you will have med pay (medical payments) insurance coverage that can help with your initial medical bills, but this is often only five thousand dollars. If you are seriously hurt, that amount may not even cover your emergency room expenses. And, then who pays for any ongoing treatment you may need.

There is hope! A lien may be the answer. Some medical providers will agree to treat you in exchange for a lien on your claim against the person who hurt you. This means that they will agree to treat you now, but wait to be paid until you settle or win your case in court.

Liens can be complicated though, so it is usually best to have an experienced and knowledgeable injury attorney assist you in negotiating them. The most important thing you can do is get the medical treatment that you need, so you can get well and put your life back together.

Remember, do not give up when seeking treatment. Not all medical providers will agree to work in exchange for a lien, but many will. Keep looking until you find a provider that is willing to work with you and make sure you get the treatment that you need. Do not hesitate to contact Davis, Johnson & Kallal to represent you and help you through the process.
